Adding Alias Tables

For an overview of Dimension Management, see Viewing, Creating, and Editing Dimensions with Dimension Management.

Tip:

Following a dimension update, you must log out of Profitability and Cost Management and then log in again to see the updates in Dimension Management or elsewhere in the service.

You also should redeploy the application, which validates it and updates the database.

If you use aliases, multiple alias tables can be useful, for example to support different languages.

Note:

The following steps describe how to add an alias table. To delete an alias table, first remove any alias values that you have assigned to any members of that alias table, and then follow these steps, but select a table and then click Delete icon.

You can click Refresh, Refresh icon at any time to update displayed information.

To add dimension tables in Dimension Management, do the following:

  1. In the Home page, click Application, Application icon, and then click Dimension Management, Dimension Management icon.
  2. Click Aliases.
  3. In Aliases, click Add icon.
  4. Enter the Name and optional Description of the new alias table.
  5. When edits are complete, follow the steps in Deploying Databases to redeploy the application's metadata to the Oracle Essbase cube. Any validation errors are displayed in the Job Library.

    Note:

You can populate new alias tables by adding or editing the alias in the properties pane for a member (Figure 6-4). You can also import flat files containing alias records (Updating Application Dimensions with Flat Files).
