Yield Calculation and Portions

Yield information is displayed in the Recipe Details section. Yield calculation is important when creating recipes for a larger number of portions and using a single portion in other recipes.

For example, a recipe is created for 20 marinated steaks, with each portion/steak weighing 250 g after preparation.
  1. Create a sub-recipe for the marinade required for the 20 steaks and add it to the main recipe.
  2. Add the meat required for the 20 steaks to the recipe (for example: 20 × 250 g = 5 kg).
  3. Since the marinade is not included in the final weight, the values should be defined as follows:
    • Yield Quantity: 5,000
    • Yield Unit: Kilogram
    • Portion Size: 250
    • Portion UOM: Gram
    • Number of Portions: 20 (automatically calculated based on the values entered above)
