Inbox in Patient Portal
Depending on your organization and type of account, your patient portal may include an inbox of conversations with your connected healthcare providers.
To access the inbox, select Open Messages
(or similarly named button) at the top of any page.
Note:
The inbox is displayed for the currently selected profile only. If you manage multiple connected health profiles, optionally switch to a different health profile.The Inbox dashboard displays your list of conversations, including the following information:
- Provider (sender) name
- Subject and a short text preview of the most recent message
- Number of messages in that conversation
- Date and time of the most recent message in that conversation
- Unread messages are indicated by dot next to them
- Message drafts include the badge Draft in that row.
Select a view from the drop-down list at the top of the inbox to open one of the following folders:
- Inbox (displayed by default)
- Drafts
- Sent
- Deleted
Note:
The Ask Oracle search box allows you to ask questions and filter the current page. See Ask Oracle in Patient Portal for information about how to use this feature.Select any message to open it. If the message includes an attachment, it will be visible in the conversation. Select the attachment to open or download it using the default settings on your browser. See your browser or image viewer's Help for more information about viewing attachments. If the attachment opens in a new browser tab, select Back (<) in your browser or device to return to Patient Portal.
Additionally, you may have the following options available to you:
- New Message: Select New Message (+), or similarly named button, to write (compose) a new message. See Write Messages and Start Conversations in Patient Portal for more information.
- Mark as Read or Unread: Conversations that include unread messages are displayed with a dot next to them. To add or remove this indicator, select Mark as Read (if it is currently unread), or select Mark as Unread (if it is currently read). (You may need to select a More Actions (…) menu to display this option.)
- Delete: You can delete a conversation by selecting Delete. (You may need to select a More Actions (…) menu to display this option.) See Delete Messages in Patient Portal for more information.
Note:
Depending on your healthcare provider, you might see confidential or sensitive messages marked with a Confidential or Sensitive label. When a sensitive message is sent, only you can view the message or replies from providers. Any authorized representatives (proxy users) cannot view the message.
