2.1.4 Support for crashkernel=auto with Kdump

To simplify Kdump configuration, support for the crashkernel=auto kernel parameter was enabled in UEK R3 Quarterly Update 1.

Note

Xen does not support the crashkernel=auto parameter.

If the crashkernel=auto parameter is enabled, the output of the dmesg command shows crashkernel=XM@0M. This is normal.

When configuring a crashkernel setting for the UEK prior to UEK R3 Quarterly Update 1, using the crashkernel=auto parameter causes Kdump to fail to start. Only standard settings such as crashkernel=128M@32M are supported.
