Replace the Expansion FRU Chassis

Replacing the Expansion Module is very similar to installing a new Expansion Module.

Install the Expansion Module Chassis

Install the Expansion Module in the rack below an existing module.

  1. Grasp the Expansion Module chassis by the sides and remove it from the shipping carton.
  2. Remove the magazines from the Expansion Module.
  3. If this will be the bottom module of the library, install the library floor now.
  4. Mount the module.
  5. Install the rails.
  6. Secure the module.

Install CRUs, Fillers, and Magazines in Replaced Module

Reinstall the functional components removed from the defective Expansion Module.

  1. Install the module controller.

    See Replace the Module Controller.

    Tip:

When the library capacity is more than 300 cartridges, you will not connect the output port for Module 6 through Module 10 now. You connect the port when installing Module 11 through Module 15.

  2. Install the tape drive assembly.
  3. Install the tape drive filler.
  4. Install the power supply.
  5. Install the power supply filler.
  6. Insert the cartridge magazines.

Install the Remaining Expansion Modules

Replace modules below the new Expansion Module.

  1. Locate the next Expansion Module for installation (refer to the module number label on the back of the module).
  2. Repeat the installation tasks until all Expansion Modules and CRUs are installed.
  3. Make sure you have installed the floor in the bottom module.

Cable the Library and Power On After Installing the Expansion Module

After installing the module, you must reconnect cabling and power on the library.

  1. Reconnect all cables.
  2. Secure the hook and loop strap to the replaced Expansion Module (close the plunger of the rivet).
  3. Align, dress, and secure cables in the hook and loop straps.
  4. Follow the power on procedures.
