Simple caching mode is generally sufficient if site users do not require immediate access to recent item changes. You can use item descriptor attributes item-expire-timeout and queryexpiretimeout to specify how long items can stay in the item and query caches, respectively, before they are invalidated. For many multi-server sites, setting this attribute to a low threshold provides a reasonable response time to item changes, while avoiding the network overhead incurred by distributed caching modes—especially Distributed TCP Caching and Distributed JMS Caching.
