If your application server is Oracle WebLogic Server, you can use the Coherence*Web module of Oracle Coherence with the Oracle Commerce Platform to handle session failover in a clustered environment. Coherence*Web stores session data externally, so if a server in a cluster fails, sessions can be recreated on another server in that cluster.

This appendix provides information specific to configuring Coherence*Web and the Oracle Commerce Platform to work together. It includes the following sections:

For other information about using Coherence*Web, including setting up clusters, see the Coherence*Web documentation.

Note: The Oracle Commerce Platform also supports the use of Oracle Coherence for external caching of repository data. Information about configuring Coherence for this purpose can be found in the External Caching for SQL Repositories section of the Repository and Database Performance chapter. Unlike the use of Coherence*Web for session failover, which the Oracle Commerce Platform supports only on WebLogic, Coherence is supported for repository caching on WebLogic, WebSphere, and JBoss.
