The program description deals with the following:
The configuration data for a line printer can be updated, i.e. programmed, changed or cleared, with this program. Data which has already been stored can also be displayed for information.
A line printer can only be programmed if the interface and link to a processing unit have been defined and if the device-specific operating mode has been set.

the graphic for further help with programming a line printer.
The following description deals with all available options for update of this basic data.
As with nearly all other programs the following also applies here:
Field with firmly defined selection options
Select one of the offered debug levels by clicking onto this field and with a second click confirming the selection.
The system offers the following debug levels:
Note:
Only select a value higher than "0" for
the debug level if a communications protocol is required for error analysis.
The details are shown in file "errlog" in directory work
of the appropriate system unit.
Entry range permitted: numeric 1 - 9999
Enter a value in this field to define the number of lines to be printed on one page.
The default value is 72 (matches 12" endless paper)
Value 66 should be entered for DIN A4 single page paper.
Entry range permitted: numeric 1 - 9999
Enter a value in this field to define the number of characters which are to be printed in one line. The default value is 80.
Entry range permitted: alphanumeric max. 20 chars.
UNIX
Enter the name
of the printer in the same letter sequence as programmed in the system. This
entry is only necessary if print is done via a spooler system and the Device is linked to device interface "Zero".
NT 4.0
Enter the name of the interface the printer is
connected to e.g. lpt0, lpt1, lpt2 or lpt3.
The prerequisite for operating a line printer is that a printer has been
programmed and that the printer is recognised by the operating system as the
default printer.
The complete path of the connected printer should be entered if a network printer is in use.

the graphic for further help with programming a line printer.
Entry range permitted: alphanumeric max. 256 chars.
Enter a prefix In this field, to store the printed output to a PDF file.
If specific reports of a chain report should not be saved as a PDF-File, the field name "NoCreatePDF" must be entered in program Report chain parameters fort his report.
Attention!
PDF-printing only works if the interface
"Spooler" and the printer type "PCL" or "GDI "was
selected. If the field "Prefix PDF file" remains empty, no PDF-file
will be created. If the field "Prefix PDF file" includes a valid
entry but no printer name has been entered, only the PDF file will be created.
The following variants for PDF printing are possible:

Additional printer commands can be entered in this field, e.g. the processor name for a network printer, the number of characters per line or the parameter for a special type of lettering. The parameters can be found in the printer manual or in the description of the spooler used.

Field with firmly defined selection options
Select one of the offered options to define the interface via which the printer is to communicate.
The system offers the following interfaces:
Note:
With option Print via print manager
"Zero" should be linked as device interface.
With option Print directly a device interface should be linked
which corresponds to the interface.
Field with firmly defined selection options
Select one of the options offered to define the type of connected bar code interface. A bar code interface selection is necessary if the appropriate bar codes are to be printed, e.g. shelf or price labels.
The system offers the following bar code interfaces:
Field with firmly defined selection options
Select one of the offered options to define the operating mode of the printer.
The system offers the following:
Switch active: This printer
can interpret HPGL code.
Switch deactivated: The connected printer works in text mode
This switch should only be activated if reports with graphics are to be printed. Some print files, e.g. label print, contain HPGL codes which the printer will have to be able to interpret.
Note:
Please note that not all laser printers can
interpret HPGL (Hewlett-Packard Graphic Language),
e.g. Postscript printer.
Switch active: This switch should be activated for use on MICROS Retail OSCAR POS under UNIX and network printer via WIN-NT to allow additional line feeds to be sent.
Switch deactivated: This switch should be deactivated for use on MICROS Retail OSCAR POS under WIN-NT and printer connection in the same network to suppress additional line feeds.
