Menu

The following program description deals with:

Remarks on the Program Function

By use of this program you can maintain the menu records in the system, i.e. insert new records, edit and delete the existing ones. You can display the data on the screen for enquiry only.

Menus are used to collate several items which are also recorded when an individual item is sold (the so-called menu carrier). This can be used for articles which are sold as a set or for articles which are offered in hospitality outlets, e.g. as menu of the day, couverts, etc. Menus are linked in program Item -> Linkage -> Menu to the sales article.

Note:
In program Parameter -> Misc.parameter -> Terminal type -> Add.data the user can set that the multiplication of menus with course selection is prohibited. This setting should be selected if guest check splitting is possible in your operation.

For creating a menu, do the following:

  1. Create a menu under any free number.
  2. Branch to the Menu Parts maintenance program by clicking the Menu Parts button to assign the desired items to the menu
  3. Assign a Course Group to this menu if several or different items are to be linked per course.

You can set up different menus accordingly.

Selection menu in hospitality:

A menu can consist, for example, of 4 courses, drinks, appetisers, main course and dessert. A selection of food or drink can be defined for each course. The customer can select the items required. MICROS Retail OSCAR POS allows for a price mark up to be defined for each menu item.

Selection menu in retailing:

A set consisting of wine, wine glasses and candles. The customer selects a bottle from the 3 on offer, a wine glass from 4 types offered and two candles from the 3 on offer. All this will be charged at a less expensive set price.
