By use of this program, you can view the status messages per system unit that have been recorded during a Software Update of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS program.
Note
As from version MICROS Retail OSCAR POS 41 automatic software
update (ASU 2) will be carried out on the basis of other criteria. This is done
autoamtically using the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS version under which the automatic software
update was started.
As the functions of this program differ in some major ways the documentation has been divided up as follows:
· As from versions MICROS Retail OSCAR POS41 "Software-Update 2" (ASU 2) will be applied.
· The program "Software-Update" (ASU) will be used for MICROS Retail OSCAR POS versions 40 and older.
This program can be used to display the status messages per system unit which are recorded during a Software-Update of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application.
This paragraph will provide a short overview over the options available for updating these Basic Data.
Just like in almost any other program:
Permitted input range: numeric, 1 - 99999
Displays the number of the installation whose status messages have been recorded for the related system units during a software update.
Permitted input range: numeric, 1 - 9999
Displays the number of the software update for which the status messages per system unit have been recorded during software update.
Permitted input range: numeric, 1 - 9999
Displays the number of the system unit for which the status messages have been recorded during a software update.
Entry range permitted: DDMMYYYY (day, month, year)
Date on which the software update was started.
Entry range permitted: HHMMSS (hour, minute, seconds)
Time at which the software update is to be activated.
Field with firmly defined selection options
Displays the name of the update state for the selected system unit.
The following status messages can be displayed:
Displays the free space (in MB) on the hard disk for the selected system unit.
Displays the space (in MB) on the hard disk for the selected system unit needed for the software update.
Permitted input range: alphanumeric, max. 32 chars.
Displays the name for the new main directory of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS POS program after a successful software update.
Permitted input range: alphanumeric, max. 32 chars.
The name of the new directory for the update of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS POS version which was stored during the software update is entered in this field. This directory name is generated automatically by the system if nothing to the contrary is defined in file "Rules" (e.g. NewDirName=MICROS Retail OSCAR POS41_T6).

Field with firmly defined selection options
Displays the name of the message when errors have occurred during a software update of the related system unit.
The following error messages can be displayed:
Activated: There are still
operators signed on at the clients of the selected system unit.
Deactivated: There are no operators signed on at the clients of
the selected system unit.
Activated: There are still
"open transactions" for the clients of the selected system unit.
Deactivated: There are no "open transactions" for the
clients of the selected system unit.
Button activated: Clients of
the selected system unit are locked.
Button deactivated: Clients of the selected system unit are not
locked.
Button activated: Client and
server are working with the same software version.
Button deactivated: The software version installed on this client is not
identical to that of the server.
Button activated: The software update for clients selected is done immediately after
the server has been successfully updated.
Button deactivated: The software update for clients selected is not
done immediately after the server has been successfully updated.
Button activated: The
software update for clients selected is done at a specified time on a specified
date.
Button deactivated: The software update for clients selected is done
immediately after the server has been successfully updated.
Note:
An entry in program System -> Configuration -> Start
Software Update client defines the date and time the update is to be
completed.
Button activated: This button is activated automatically if the automatic software
update for this system unit was successful.
Button deactivated: The automatic software update has not yet been
completed or could not be completed.
