After configuring the system and performing initial configuration, it is recommended that you retain a connection to Oracle ILOM, located in the controller SP, for troubleshooting hardware problems that do not otherwise appear in the appliance software.
The server Oracle ILOM provides options for (i) network and (ii) serial port connectivity. Network connection is the preferred choice, as the Oracle ILOM serial port does not always allow adequate means of platform data collection.
For a network SP connection (recommended), attach an Ethernet cable from the NET MGT port on the rear panel of the controller to your Ethernet switch.
For a serial SP connection, attach a serial cable from the SER MGT port on the rear panel of the controller to the serial port on the administrative client. Use a DB9 to RJ45 adapter if necessary.
