1 Getting Started

Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service is a web-based application used to administer corporate- based functions such as Oracle Retail Xstore Point-of-Service configuration setup and maintenance, file management for the Oracle Retail Xstore Suite, viewing the electronic journal, viewing store reports, monitoring Oracle Retail Xstore Point-of-Service versions in use at the store and register levels, and monitoring alerts.This guide is intended for technical personnel working with Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service and requires a working knowledge of Oracle Retail Xstore Point-of-Service POS, XML, SQL Server database, the Windows operating system, and the network system being used.


Note:

Because Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service UI color schemes and menu options are configurable, the page layouts and functions on your system may appear in a different order or have different text than examples shown in this manual. Since different browsers use different rendering engines, the browser you are using may also affect the way the screens are depicted on your system.

Prerequisites

This guide assumes:

  • You have the privilege-permission level to use Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service.

  • Oracle Retail Xstore Point of Service and Xcenter Database (a part of Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service) are in use.

  • You have purchased Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service Cloud Service.

Web Browser Support

Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service supports Internet Explorer web browser version 11.0 and Firefox running on the Windows 8 or Windows 10 operating systems. Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service also supports Google Chrome web browser. Other web browser/ operating system combinations may work, but have not been tested.


Note:

Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service must be set to 100% zoom. To verify the zoom level, click View and then Zoom on the browser menu and verify the zoom is set to 100%. In IE, make sure the zoom is 100%. In Firefox, choose Zoom, then Reset.

Accessing Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service

Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service is a web-based application that you can access through an internet browser.

  • If you use Xstore Office Cloud Service, you login through the Identity Cloud Service (IDCS), see Figure 1-1. The system validates if you hold the Xadmin AppRole in IDCS and if your user name exists in Xadmin. If your user cannot be found in Xadmin, an error message is displayed and you are redirected to the IDCS login screen. For more information on Xstore Office Cloud Service users, see the Creating a User for Xstore Office Cloud Service section.

  1. Open an internet browser.

  2. Enter the server address in the Address field and press [Enter].

  3. The login page opens.

  4. Type your user name in the User ID field.

  5. Type your password in the Password field.

  6. Click the Sign In button.


    Note:

    Once a user is created, the user receives an email to activate the user account. That activation link takes user to create password page of Identity Cloud Service (IDCS).

  7. You are prompted for an organization. Select an organization from the list and click OK.


    Note:

    If only one organization is assigned to your user account, the organization selection is not available.

    If you select Cancel you are logged out of Xstore Office.


  8. The Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service Home page displays. Select a menu option from the menu bar, or click a link in one of the Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service Panels to continue.

Home Page Layout:

  1. Menu Bar

    The top of the page contains the menu bar.

  2. Breadcrumbs Bar

    The breadcrumbs bar is right below the menu bar.

  3. Organization ID, Organization Name (if available) and Logged In User ID

    The selected organization ID and organization name (if available) as well as the logged in user ID are displayed in the top right corner of the page.

  4. Panels

    In the center of the page the available panels are displayed. Possible available panels are:

    • Configuration Manager

    • Data Manager

    • Deployment Manager

    • Support Tools

    • Reports

    • System

  5. More Arrow (when applicable)

Navigation:

  • To log out, click the logged in user ID located in top right section of the page. You are prompted to log out and you are informed that you will be logged out of all IDCS Cloud Applications in the session. Select Yes to confirm the prompt. Select No to stay logged in.

  • To return to the Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service Home page at any time, click the Home bread crumb.

  • To display more panels (when applicable), click the More arrow.


Important:

Initial Access Setup Instructions

A default administrator security role account has been set up in the database to allow first-time access to Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service.

Using this default user account to log in, click the Xadmin Users link in the System panel or select Xadmin Users in the System menu to set up additional Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service user accounts.

Oracle recommends that you set up at least one ADMINISTRATOR security user account.

Once this Administrator security user has been set up, delete the initial (default) administrator user account for security purposes.

  • Chapter 6, "Data Management" - This chapter provides information about creating, maintaining, and deploying Oracle Retail Xstore Point-of-Service data changes selectively, or globally across the entire organization.

  • Chapter 7, "Deployment Management" - This chapter provides information about using Deployment Manager to upload files for deployment and to track the status of all configuration, data, and file deployments.

  • Chapter 9, "Reports" - This chapter provides information about running and viewing any of the Oracle Retail Xstore Point-of-Service reports against the Xcenter (central) database.

  • Chapter 10, "Support Tools" - This chapter provides information about using the Support Tools component to view issues taking place at the store level, to set up email alerts to be sent to the appropriate personnel when any issues occur, and to compile the PosLog data from within Oracle Retail Xstore Office Cloud Service and save it as a file to a specified location or to rebroadcast the PosLog data.
