Setting Defaults and Variables

Important: Effective June 2024, Responsys will not support Classic Campaign functionality. After the effective date, Campaign Designer will be the only Responsys tool for creating and sending targeted and personalized campaigns. Learn more about the Campaign Designer.

In this step, you can specify default values for text replacement fields in the campaign message.

The default values are used when the field is empty for a specific recipient. For example, the subject line of your message is: 

Dear $FIRST_NAME$, Brickstone makes shopping easy and rewarding

If you do not provide a default value for $FIRST_NAME$ and a recipient's first name is absent from your list and supplemental data sources, the subject line for that recipient will be:

Dear , Brickstone makes shopping easy and rewarding

If you provide a default value "Friend", the subject line will be:

Dear Friend, Brickstone makes shopping easy and rewarding

To specify default values for variables

  1. In the Name field, type the name of the variable.
  2. In the Value field, type the default value for the variable.
