Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is a third-party analytics solution that helps you evaluate traffic on your website using data based on visitor tracking information.

The URL for parent and child matrix items is the same and will be tracked as such by GA4.

Pre-Denali

GA4 is not supported in pre-Denali SCA implementations. To implement GA4 on these sites, your development team will need to customize your site’s code and add Google Analytics events in your data layer.

ShopFlow and Site Builder only support basic Google Analytics functionality. See Google Analytics with ShopFlow and Site Builder.

To track visitor activity on your site, GA4 can be implemented in the shopping, checkout, and My Account areas of your Commerce web site.

After GA4 is enabled and configured, each page hit in the shopping area of your website is tracked. In the checkout area of your website, each item in the cart is tracked. When an order is completed, details of the order such as store name, shipping, state, and country are also tracked.

Note:

Do not implement GA4 if you use GA4 with Google Tag Manager (GTM). Doing so causes duplicate tracking results. See Google Tag Manager for information about GTM. See Tracked Events in Google Tag Manager Versus Google Analytics 4 for information about the differences between the events tracked in the GA4 component of GTM and GA4 when it is used without GTM.
