Same-Store Sales Report

Overview

The Same-Store Sales Report SuiteApp enables retail and restaurant businesses to identify comparable and noncomparable stores and then compare those stores’ sales revenue over a specified period in a year, with the sales in an identical period in a different year using custom calendars. The difference in revenue is displayed in percentage, according to specified metrics, to indicate the relative amount of increase or decrease in revenue. The SuiteApp also supports creation and importing of custom calendars that it will use or reference for the reporting period.

Stores are Location records with Store selected in Location Type and a specified store opening date. Then, sales recorded for the locations are automatically referenced by the report as store sales.

The Same-Store Sales Report processes data from cash sales, invoice, returns, sales orders, and refunds.

The Same-Store Sales Report requires retail calendars for the years that you want to compare store sales. The retail calendars that you create, and import can be in the 4-5-4, 4-4-5, 5-4-4, or other formats , provided that the calendar formats fulfill certain validations. For more information, see Validations in Creating and Importing Calendars. The SuiteApp has features that enable you to create and import custom retail calendars for the years that you want to compare store sales.

The SuiteApp also has a Same-Store Sales Preferences page where you can define the Method of Comparison and Store Settings. There are two options for Method of Comparison - Entire Year Comparison and Partial Year Comparison.

After setting up calendars, Locations, and preferences, you can generate the Same-Store Sales Report from Reports > Sales > Same-Store Sales. The report page has fields for specifying Store Options, Reporting Period, This Year (TY) and Last Year (LY) date fields, and Metrics. In the Reporting Period field, you can select Day, Week, Period, Quarter, Year, or Custom. In the Store Options field, you can select Comparable Stores, Non Comparable Stores, or Both.
