Viewing the Bounced Email Address List
Email campaign administrators can view the reason for a delivery failure to a particular email address to better manage their email campaign lists. The reason code indicates whether the failure to deliver is temporary (soft bounce) or permanent (hard bounce). Go to Lists > Relationships > Bounced Email Addresses.
The following are some of the system-generated errors, both soft and hard bounces:
-
Soft Bounce
-
Mailbox Full
-
Disabled Account
-
Greylisted
-
Server Too Busy
-
Soft Bounce – Other
-
-
Hard Bounce
-
Unknown User
-
Bad Domain
-
Address Error
-
Account Closed
-
Hard Bounce
-
The lists above do not show all possible error messages. If you encounter the Excess Traffic error, and you are using Mimecast, the following SuiteAnswers article may be of help. See Configuring a Mimecast Policy for NetSuite Outbound Email, SuiteAnswers ID 95602.
Be aware of the following:
-
NetSuite evaluates transactional email message addresses against hard bounce records in the list. If the recipient for a transactional message matches a hard bounce record in the list, NetSuite does not send the message.
-
NetSuite evaluates bulk email message addresses against soft bounce records in the list. If the recipient for a bulk message matches a soft bounce record in the list, NetSuite does not send the message.
-
Soft bounces for both bulk and transitional email recipient addresses are included in the list. NetSuite applies a fixed-length Time-To-Live (TTL) to these soft bounces. The TTL assigned could be minutes or hours, depending on the specific reason code.
Each email address that triggers a hard bounce response is automatically excluded from any email traffic for a defined period of time. You can view a list of bounced email addresses at Lists > Relationships > Bounced Email Addresses.

-
Go to Lists > Relationships > Bounced Email Addresses.
-
Check the box in the Delete column for each email address you want to clear the bounce history for. You can also click Mark All to select all email addresses in the list.
