Advanced SaaS Metrics Setup

An administrator must do the following after installing the Advanced SaaS Metrics SuiteApp:

  1. Create or edit customized user roles.

For more information about creating or customizing roles, see Customizing and Creating Roles.

  2. Give user roles access to the SuiteApp and set required permissions for the roles.

For more information, see Giving Role Access and Setting Required Permissions for Advanced SaaS Metrics.

  3. Give roles access to workbooks and datasets.

For more information, see Giving Access to Advanced SaaS Metrics Workbooks and Datasets.

  4. Set up accounting periods.

Set up accounting periods in advance for contracts that have end dates in the distant future. For example, if you have a contract with an end date of 10 years from now, set up accounting periods up to 10 years from now. For more information about setting up accounting periods, see Accounting Period Setup.

    Note:

The SuiteApp considers the churn date as the contract end date plus one day. If you have a contract ending in December 31, 2028, the churn date being considered is January 1, 2029. You must set up accounting periods up to January 2029 so transaction records are properly created for that contract.

  5. Set items as renewable.

Only transactions that have renewable items are processed by the SaaS MR Create Contract Transaction script and included in the SaaS Metrics dashboard computations. For more information, see Setting an Item as Renewable.

  6. If applicable, create datasets for the primary or secondary record.

The dataset must contain the fields of the primary or secondary record that are used when setting up the SuiteApp preferences.

If you have a custom field that you want to use, you must create a dataset for the primary or secondary record that includes the custom field. For more information about datasets, see Defining a Dataset.

  7. Set the Advanced SaaS Metrics preferences.

For more information, see Setting Advanced SaaS Metrics Preferences.

  8. Schedule the SaaS MR Create Contract Transaction script to run daily.

For more information, see Scheduling the SaaS MR Create Contract Transaction Script

  9. (Optional) If you are using secondary records, deploy the SaaS UE Transaction script for secondary records.

For more information, see Deploying Script for Secondary Records.

  10. (Optional) Import and process CSV transaction records.

For more information, see Processing CSV Imported Records.
