Shipment Management

Consol Interface

This page is accessed via Shipment Management > Group Management > Consols.

The Consol interface is used to specify the shipment consolidator. It is supported on both the inbound and the outbound. A consol can be created for a charter voyage or air schedule (flight) or Ocean FCL or Ocean Bulk or Ground.

A charter voyage consol represents the weight, volume, FEU/TEU capacities of a specific stowage mode on a specific charter voyage. It captures the allocated, maximum, committed, booked, and produced capacity values when the status of a consol is changed as a result of booking orders on a shipment that is related to the consol.

For a freight forwarder, the consol is considered a group of house bills or a set of sell shipments. All actions related to manipulating a consol should be performed from the perspective of a sell shipment. For example, adding freight to a consol would be performed by selecting sell shipments to add to the consol.

Another example would be: a freight forwarder starts with a group of house bills or a set of sell shipments. They also have reserved flights. For each flight reservation, there is a consol for defining the reserved capacity of the flight. The sell shipments are then booked to consols to create buy shipments.

There are several ways a consol can be created.

  • When voyage data are sent into Oracle Transportation Management through integration an appropriate agent is configured. For each voyage, one consol is created for each stowage mode of this voyage. An empty shipment is also created for each consol at the same time.
  • You can create a consol from a charter voyage using the Create Consol action in the Charter Voyage manager or by clicking new on the Consol Manager.
  • You can create a consol from a flight using the Create Consol action in the Air manager or by clicking new on the Consol Manager.
  • You can copy a consol for both chartered voyage stowage and flight instance consols.

The remaining sections of the page display the current capacity data for a stowage mode only. These values can change as a result of order bookings and manual modifications. Additionally, some values are populated from the related consol shipment when the consol status changes.

Allocated

Allocated values represent the original agreed-upon capacity for this stowage mode on the charter voyage.

Maximum

Maximum values handle fixed and flexible capacities.

Committed

Capacity that is committed on the pre-bookings. You can only edit these values when the consol status is READY-TO-COMMIT.

Booked

This represents the capacity that is booked on the voyage for shipments planned using order releases (production lot orders). These values are calculated each time an order is booked on the consol using the Build Buy Shipment on Primary Leg action (from the Order Release manager).

Produced

Produced values are not calculated and are user-defined.

Involved Parties

Use this section to assign involved parties.

Reference Numbers

Use this section to assign reference numbers.

Remarks

Use this section to add remarks.

Jobs

This section displays the jobs on the console. This section only displays if a job is identified, so it does not display when creating a consol.

Flights

If this consol has a consol type of Flight, the flight details display in this section. This is read-only and cannot be modified here.

Creating a Consol Shipment

After you have created a consol, you can create a shipment for the consol via Consol actions.
