CRT Configuration: Details

This page is accessed via Sourcing > Setup > CRT Configuration. Then, click the CRT Configuration Details tab.

Once you click CRT Configuration Details on the CRT Configuration Header page, Oracle Transportation Sourcing populates the CRT Configuration Details page based on information pulled from the rate record template ID specified, or the sourcing lane definition or the project. On the CRT Configuration Details page, you can change how this information is presented in the carrier response spreadsheet that is sent to service providers or carriers.

Note: Never make changes to the CRT configuration once it is assigned to a bid round.

The CRT Configuration Details page lists all possible carrier response template column headings in rows. You can only edit rows on this page. You cannot create any new rows since this information is pulled directly from the rate record template, or the sourcing lane definition, or the project.

The information is broken down into three sections: lane attributes, rate attributes and project attributes. These sections are collapsed by default. Let's look at each of these sections in more detail below.

Lane Attributes

Lane attributes are any sourcing specific attributes of the lanes associated with these rate records. These include the following categories:

  • Informational columns which help a buyer to know what they are bidding on.
  • Miscellaneous columns which include information required by the Oracle Transportation Management integration and may include: transaction code, domain name, etc.
  • Bid attributes which include information related to the bid that is not cost related, such as minimum/maximum loads, bid package ID, transit time, equipment group, and transport mode.
  • Actual lane attributes such as geography attributes, demand statistics, goods attributes, time attributes, etc.

Editing Lane Attributes

  1. Expand the Lane Attributes section.
  2. To edit a specific column heading, click Edit icon to the right of the desired column heading.
  3. Use the Sequence Number field to select the order in which the columns will display.
  4. Note the Default Display Name. This field cannot be changed. This is the header title that will appear in the final carrier response template for this column.
  5. To change the default display name, specify a Display Name. The value entered in display name will override the default display name in the carrier response spreadsheet.

For example, you can change the display name for the maximum shipments row to indicate this row is the historical peak based on 26 weeks of data.
  6. Select the Select check box for this row to appear as a column in the CRT spreadsheet.
  7. Select the Hidden check box for this row to be hidden in the CRT spreadsheet. Users can employ Excel's unprotect function to see the hidden columns and data.
  8. Select the Locked check box if the information contained in the column may not be changed.

Most rows are locked by default which means your carriers will not be able to enter data into that column in the CRT spreadsheet.
  9. To allow your carriers to bid on a lane attribute, make sure to select the Biddable check box for that attribute.
  10. You can use the Color, Font, and Font Style options to make sure that a specific attribute stands out. For example, you can select a color of YELLOW for all attributes that you want your carriers to bid on. In the CRT spreadsheet, the columns for these attributes will be highlighted in yellow making it easier for your carrier to see them.
    1. Click the Color drop-down list to select a new fill color for the column in the carrier response spreadsheet. The default setting of white is the same as no fill.
    2. Click the Font drop-down list to select a new font for the text that appears in the column in the carrier response spreadsheet.
    3. Click the Font Style drop-down list to indicate if the text in this column will be regular or italics in the carrier response spreadsheet.
  11. Click Save to save your changes to the column information.

Lane versus Bid Attributes

The following tables list the bid attributes separately from the lane attributes. Both tables also include a list of all of the bid and lane attributes and indicate which ones apply to which transport mode TL, LTL, or VESSEL. If a bid and/or lane attribute does not apply to a specific transport mode, there is no X in the box.

Note: If a bid and/or lane attribute does not apply to a specific transport mode, then you will need deselect the biddable option for that bid/lane attribute when creating the CRT.

Using User Defined Attributes (Flex Fields)

The user defined attribute (flex field) columns map to flex fields defined on a user-defined version of the Sourcing lane definition manager. See the Sourcing Lane Definition help topic for details on how to configure the Sourcing lane definition manager.

If you rename these user defined attribute columns, ensure that the naming is consistent in the following places:

  • the CRT Display Name field for that user defined attribute
  • field name for that user defined attribute on a user-defined Sourcing lane definition

Required Attributes

For each mode, it is required that some attributes be both selected (included in the CRT) and biddable. These required attributes are listed in this section.

TL

For TL mode, the following columns must be selected and biddable:

  • Transaction Code
  • Transport Mode ID
  • Equipment Group ID
  • Transit Time
  • Minimum Shipments Requested
  • Maximum Shipments Requested
  • Domain Name
  • Lane ID
  • Bid Sequence Number
  • Bid Round ID

LTL

For LTL mode, the following columns must be selected (included in the CRT) and biddable:

  • Transport Mode ID
  • Equipment Group ID (this option can be deselected)

VESSEL

For VESSEL mode following columns must be selected (included in the CRT) and biddable:

  • Transaction Code
  • Transport Mode ID
  • Equipment Group ID
  • Transit Time
  • Minimum Shipments Requested
  • Maximum Shipments Requested
  • Domain Name
  • Lane ID
  • Bid Sequence Number
  • Bid Round ID

The following columns must be biddable:

  • Source Arbitrary Lane ID
  • Source Source Region ID
  • Source Destination Region ID
  • Destination Arbitrary Lane ID
  • Destination Source Region ID
  • Destination Destination Region ID

Rate Attributes

Rate attributes are any costs specified in the rate record template.

Editing Rate Attributes

  1. Expand the Rate Attributes section.
  2. To edit a specific column heading, click Edit to the right of the desired column heading.
  3. Use the Sequence Number field to select the order in which the columns will display in the CRT when it is generated.
  4. Note the Rate Type. This field cannot be changed. This is the cost type.
  5. Note the Default Display Name. This field cannot be changed. This is the header title that will appear in the final carrier response template for this column.

If you click the link in this cell, you see more details about that particular rate attribute.
  6. To change the default display name, specify a Display Name. The value entered in display name will override the default display name in the carrier response spreadsheet.

For example, you may have multiple rows with the same default display name of Bid per Shipment, but each rate has different conditions. You can indicate how the rows are different by specifying a display name that is different from the default display name. One row could have a display name of "Bid per shipment < 500 lbs" while the other row could have a display name of "Bid per shipment > 500 lbs & < 100lbs".
  7. Deselect the Biddable check box if you do not want carriers to bid on this cost. If biddable is not selected, the cost on the rate record template is used.

The Biddable check box is selected by default for all rate attributes. If biddable is selected, the cost entered in the bids will override the cost entered in the rate record template.
  8. Deselect the Compute Cost? check box to exclude a particular rate component, such as an accessorial, from the computed cost on the final spreadsheet.

The Compute Cost? check box is selected by default for all rate attributes. Deselect the Compute Cost? check box to exclude a particular rate component, such as an accessorial, from the computed cost on the final spreadsheet.

Accessorial costs are included in the computed cost based on the setting of the Always Apply check box on the accessorial and the compute cost check box as described here.
  9. You might want to set the Color, Font, and Font Style for the biddable rate costs to make them stand out in the CRT spreadsheet.
  10. Click Save to save your changes to the column information.

Rate Attributes - Detailed Information

You can have duplicate costs in the default display name column of the rate attributes grid. These duplicate display names are the result of duplicate rate basis items that only differ by conditions, such as equipment group. To distinguish between these two costs, you can click the link to view details about the rate attribute. You can use the information provided in the detailed view to assist in configuring the display names column.

To view detailed information about a specific rate attribute, click the link in the Default Display Name column. This link is only available when creating a new CRT configuration or editing an existing one.

Different view pages are provided depending on the rate type as follows:

BASE DISCOUNT

Rate record cost details page in view mode

ACCESSORIAL COST

WEIGHT BREAK DISCOUNT or SMC3 discounts

No link is provided since the discount for each weight break is displayed in the display name column.

Note: The rate type of ACCESSORIAL COST includes accessorials, special services, and arbitrary special services.

NMFC Information

Even if you defined NMFC ranges on the rate record template, the CRT configuration will not contain any information about those NMFC ranges. NMFC ranges cannot be bid upon by carriers, as a result, these are automatically placed into the Conditions tab of the resulting CRT Excel spreadsheet. For example, any actual NMFC class between 50.0 and 100.0 will be rated as 60.0.

Currency, Count, and Unit of Measure Columns

In the CRT Configuration: Details tab, rows for currency, unit, and unit of measure (UOM) columns are not displayed. These columns will be included in the final CRT spreadsheet but not displayed on this page. The display names are the standard Oracle Transportation Management labels for currency, unit, and unit of measure fields. In the final CRT spreadsheet, they are displayed in the order: bid amount, currency, unit, and unit of measure. The default values should be acceptable to the majority of users and use cases. They buyer can change the default values in the final CRT spreadsheet.

Project Attributes

Project attributes are additional fields (flex fields) added to the Project manager.

Editing Project Attributes

  1. Expand the Project Attributes section.
  2. To edit a specific column heading, click Edit icon to the right of the desired column heading.
  3. Use the Sequence Number field to select the order in which the columns will display in the CRT when it is generated.
  4. Note the Default Display Name. This field cannot be changed. This is the header title that will appear in the final carrier response template for this column.
  5. To change the default display name, specify a Display Name. The value entered in display name will override the default display name in the carrier response spreadsheet.
  6. Select the Select check box for this row to appear as a column in the CRT spreadsheet.
  7. Select the Hidden check box for this row to be hidden in the CRT spreadsheet. Users can employ Excel's unprotect function to see the hidden columns and data.

Note: Even if you select the Hidden check box, the project flex fields are always visible in the generated carrier response template. This is due to technology limitations.

  1. You might want to set the Color, Font, and Font Style for the biddable rate costs to make them stand out in the CRT spreadsheet.
  2. Click Save to save your changes to the column information.

The rows in the project attributes grid are populated from the project.
