Contract and Rate Management

Sourcing Rate Basis Items and Cost Types

A sub-set of costs which can be defined in Oracle Transportation Management are supported for Oracle Transportation Sourcing's rate record templates.

You can use Oracle Transportation Management rating to set up base costs, stop-off charges, accessorials, special services, and LTL weight break discounts as detailed below. These costs are used to calculate the computed cost on the bid.

Let's look at which rate basis items and cost types are available for the transport modes supported by Oracle Transportation Sourcing.

Truckload (TL) Mode

The following Oracle Transportation Management rate basis items are supported for Oracle Transportation Sourcing when sourcing shipments with a mode of truckload (TL):

Note: For Oracle Transportation Sourcing, stops must be defined on the rate record and not the rate offering.

Note: For Oracle Transportation Sourcing, circuity must be defined on the rate record and not the rate offering.

    • Circuity distance on each sourcing shipment included in the lane summary is used to calculate the average out of route distance. The result is stored in the lane_summary_stat table as avg_out_of_route_distance.
    • The avg_out_of_route_distance in the lane_summary_stat table is used to calculate the computed cost.
  • For shipment weight, use the rate basis item of Shipment Total Weight.
    • Average weight on the lane definition.
    • The average weight on the lane definition is used to calculate the computed cost.

Refer to the Truckload Flow Overview topic for detailed information about setting up Oracle Transportation Sourcing rates.

LTL Mode

The following Oracle Transportation Management rate basis items are supported for Oracle Transportation Sourcing when sourcing shipments with a mode of LTL:

Refer to the LTL Flow Overview topic for detailed information about setting up Oracle Transportation Sourcing rates.

VESSEL-CO Mode

The following Oracle Transportation Management rate basis items are supported for Oracle Transportation Sourcing when sourcing shipments with a transport mode of VESSEL-CO as follows:

Port to Port Moves:

  • For shipment flat rate, use the rate basis item of Shipment.

This rate basis item requires the total number of shipments (total_shipments) on the lane summary. The value in the lane summary is also required by the sourcing solver.

Computed cost is per a single fictional shipment.
  • For shipment equipment, use the rate basis item of Shipment Total Pieces of Equipment.
  • For equipment reference units, use the following rate basis items:
    1. Shipment Total Weight
    2. Destination Equipment Reference Unit Usage Count
    3. Destination Total Equipment Reference Unit Usage Count
    4. Stop Equipment Reference Unit Usage Count
    5. Stop Total Equipment Reference Unit Usage Count

Moves Containing Source and Destination Arbitrary Lanes:

  • For shipment flat rate, use the rate basis item of Shipment as explained above under Port to Port Moves.
  • The special service code, accessorial code, and accessorial cost IDs must all have the same IDs for Sourcing to compute the cost for ocean shipments with arbitraries. These IDs are hard-coded within Sourcing and must be found exactly as documented below for ocean sourcing with arbitrary costs to work.
    • SOURCE ARBITRARY COST
    • DEST ARBITRARY COST

Conditional Costs

You can use the following rate basis items to define conditional costs:

Accessorial Costs

You can define accessorial costs with the any of the rate basis items supported for the applicable mode by Oracle Transportation Sourcing as mentioned above.

Including Accessorial Costs in Computed Cost

Accessorial costs are included in the computed cost based on the following options:
