A postal code (also known as ZIP Code in the United States) is a series of alphanumeric characters, sometimes with a space, added to a mailing address for the purpose of sorting mail and packages into proximate groupings. Instances of this should be constructed from a country prefix that adheres to the ISO 3166-1 alpha 2 standard, followed by a “-“, and then the country postal code number on the end. An example of this pattern is US-20500.
