Location Types

Purpose: Use this screen to work with the location types within an organization.

What is a location type? The location type describes one or more locations within a organization. Each location type indicates the location category (store, warehouse, or vendor), and can also provide additional information, such as “East Coast Stores” or “Outlet Stores.”

Created how? You must create each location type within Order Broker. See Setting Up Data for the Routing Engine Module or Setting Up Data for the Supplier Direct Fulfillment Module for more information.

Use in OCDS imports: When you configure your system to import data from OCDS, you need to specify the location types to apply when creating store and warehouse locations. See the OCDS Integration tab at the System screen for more information on configuration, and see OCDS Imports for background.

How to display this screen: Select Location Types from the Home Screen or from the Locations Menu.

Options at this screen

Option	Procedure
create a new location type	Optionally, select a different organization from the Organization drop-down box. The organization associated with your Default Shipping System is selected by default. See Data Hierarchy for more information on how location types are integrated within organizations. Note: You must complete the Preferences screen for an organization before you can select it. Enter the location type code in the Type field. The location type code can be 1 to 10 positions long, can include spaces and special characters, and must be unique within the organization; however, other organizations can have the same location type code. Enter the name of the location type in the Name field. The name can be from 1 to 40 positions long and can include spaces and special characters. Select the location category from the Category drop-down box. Possible categories are: S = Store W = Warehouse Click New. If: the location type already exists in the organization, Order Broker displays an error message and positions the results fields to the existing location type. you did not enter any of the required fields, Order Broker displays an error message. the location type was created successfully, it is displayed below in the results with other location types associated with the displayed organization.
search for a location type	The organization associated with your Default Shipping System is selected by default, and the location types associated with that organization are displayed. Use any combination of the fields at the top of the screen to restrict the search results to matching location types: Optionally, select a different organization from the from the Organization drop-down box to restrict your results to this organization. Note: You can also select a blank organization to remove this field from your selection criteria. Enter a full or partial location type code in the Type field to restrict your results to location types starting with your entry. Enter a full or partial name in the Name field to restrict your results to location types whose names contain your entry. Select a location category from the Category drop-down box to restrict your results to location types of that category. Click Search. Case? Both the Organization and the Name fields on this screen are case-sensitive for searching; for example, an entry of o does not match a name of Outlet.
change the name or category of a location type	Select the edit icon () to open the Location Type window. At this window, you can change the Name or the Category for the location type.
delete a location type	Select the delete icon () next to a location type to delete the location type from Order Broker. This option is available only if there is not an existing location assigned to the location type. To delete the location type, you must first delete any related locations.

Fields at this screen

Field	Description
Search/new fields:
Organization	See organization. Required to create a location type. Defaults from the organization associated with the Default Shipping System from your user profile, but you can override this default. Note: You must complete the Preferences screen for an organization before you can select it.
Type	See location type. The name can be from 1 to 40 positions long and can include spaces and special characters. Required to create a location type. Case-sensitive for searching; for example, an entry of o does not match a type of OUT.
Name	The name of the location type. The name can be from 1 to 40 positions long and can include spaces and special characters. Required to create a location type. Case-sensitive for searching; for example, an entry of o does not match a name of Outlet.
Category	See location category. Required to create a location type.
Results fields:
Organization	See organization.
Type	See location type. The name can be from 1 to 40 positions long and can include spaces and special characters.
Name	The name of the location type. The name can be from 1 to 40 positions long and can include spaces and special characters.
Category	See location category.
Edit	Select the edit icon () next to a location type to advance to the Location Type window.
Delete	Select the delete icon () next to a location type to delete the location type from Order Broker. This option is available only if there is not an existing location assigned to the location type.
