Periodic updates are released for Oracle ILOM firmware. These updates might contain fixes, patches, drivers, or other enhancements. Oracle ILOM firmware upgrades typically include both an updated BIOS and updated service processor firmware. You cannot upgrade the BIOS independently from the service processor firmware.
Note - BIOS configuration settings are not preserved across Oracle ILOM firmware upgrades. Upgrading Oracle ILOM firmware results in all BIOS configuration settings being restored to the optimal default values on the first host power-cycle following the upgrade process. You can use the BIOSconfig tool described in 7.10 BIOS Configuration Tool to save BIOS configuration settings prior to a firmware upgrade and to restore BIOS configuration settings after the Oracle ILOM firmware upgrade has been completed.
Announcements and information about firmware releases are available in the Product Notes documentation for your server. See Sun Server X2-4 Product Notes.
Information about how to update firmware is available in the Oracle Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM) 3.1 Documentation Library at http://www.oracle.com/pls/topic/lookup?ctx=ilom31.
