You can deploy assets created in the current version of ATG Content Administration environment to deployment agents on target servers that run earlier versions: 2006.3 and 2007.1.
Note: Support for deployment to targets with earlier ATG versions will be deprecated in future releases of ATG Content Administration.
Requirements
The following requirements apply:
All target servers must run the same version and patch.
Target servers must have installed the latest patches that are verified for versions 2006.3 and 2007.1—currently, 2006.3p6 and 2007.1p2, respectively.
The asset management server must be assembled with the appropriate configuration layer by supplying one of these
-layerarguments:-layer 20063target-layer 20071target
The asset management server must not be assembled with
-layer Preview. The enhanced asset preview functionality in the current version of ATG is not supported in earlier versions such as ATG 20007.1.Target servers must not have earlier versions of ATG Search installed.
Target servers must not have earlier versions of ATG Commerce Service Center installed.
Publishing agents
The ATG Content Administration distribution provides two Publishing Agent kits that contain the appropriate agents for target servers that run earlier versions:

Unjar PublishingAgentKit.jar to one of the following sets of root directories as appropriate:
ATG2006.3andATGWeb2006.3ATG2007.1andATGWeb2007.1
To start the Publishing agent on the target server:
startDynamo -m PublishingAgent91 your-production-modules
For ATG Commerce users:
startDynamo -m PublishingAgent91.DCS your-production-modules
To start the Publishing Web agent on the target Web server:
startNucleus -m PublishingWebAgent91
