The folder item type serves as a container for article and mediaContent items. An individual folder can contain any combination of article items, mediaContent items, and other folders.

Folders exist only on the Content Administration server, and can be used for organizing content in Oracle Commerce Merchandising. They are not deployed to the production server, and their use in Merchandising is entirely optional. You can choose whether or not to keep article and mediaContent items in folders.
