1.5 (Option 5) vCPE – Installation in a Virtual Machine

If you would like to use a single server to run multiple applications, the Corente Gateway Software can be installed and run on a virtual machine (VM). The Corente service is compatible with the following VM servers:

  • Oracle VM Server for x86 version 3.3.1

  • Xen 4.4

  • VMware ESX 5.5

  • Citrix XenServer 6.2

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V

1.5.1 Order Specified Hardware

The partner should order hardware from the hardware provider, as determined in the planning phase based on the specifications for the site and for the VM server being used.

1.5.2 Set up Corente Virtual Services Gateway Software in Virtual Machine

After you have created your new Locations in App Net Manager (or App Net Manager Lite), the personality file for your new Location has been created, but has not yet been installed on the virtual machine (VM) of your Location hardware. A new Corente Virtual Services Gateway requires two files: the Location software and the Location personality file. Before you can install the personality file, you must install the Corente software. Follow the instructions in this section to obtain the software and then install this software onto each VM.

1.5.2.1 Create the Installation CD

To begin installation, you must create the CD that will install the Corente Virtual Services Gateway software onto the VM. To create this CD:

  1. Access the Administration Homepage (http://www.corente.com/web) and click the For CD Installation hyperlink.

  2. Download the .iso file that appears in this directory.

  3. Burn this CD image onto a blank CD using your preferred CD burning software.

1.5.2.2 Install the Software on the VM

For specific Corente Gateway Software installation instructions for each supported VM server, please refer to Appendix A, Running the Corente Virtual Services Gateway on a Virtual Machine.

1.5.3 Provision Corente Virtual Services Gateway with Personality

To learn how to install the personality file on each type of VM server, please refer to Appendix A, Running the Corente Virtual Services Gateway on a Virtual Machine.

1.5.4 Deliver to Customer Location

The partner should deliver the hardware to the customer site.

1.5.5 Install Hardware and Connect to ISP

Determine which party will deploy the new Corente Virtual Services Gateway into the correct place on the customer LAN.

1.5.5.1 Partner Install

The partner will go to the site and unpack the hardware, and be responsible for connecting the new Corente Virtual Services Gateway to the LAN and to the ISP per the specifications outlined in the planning phase.

1.5.5.2 Customer Self-Install

The customer will unpack the hardware and be responsible for connecting the new Corente Virtual Services Gateway to the LAN and to the ISP per the specifications outlined in the planning phase.

1.5.6 Automated Policy Provisioning

Once the new Corente Virtual Services Gateway has been correctly installed on the virtual machine and the VM server installed on the LAN, the Location gateway will automatically authenticate and activate itself with the Corente Services Control Point (SCP). Upon successful activation, the policies that were established for this Location gateway will be automatically downloaded onto the hardware and put into use.
