API Gateway Appliance initial setup

This topic describes the tasks you can perform to set up your appliance using the Web Administration Interface. It also describes how to install and access the Policy Studio, API Gateway Manager, and API Manager tools.

Web Administration Interface first steps

After connecting to the Web Administration Interface using the steps outlined in Connect to the Web Administration Interface, you can configure the following settings:

Configure API Gateway

The appliance ships with the API Gateway software installed, however, you must perform some initial setup steps to configure and start a Node Manager and API Gateway instance. For more details, see Configure API Gateway Node Managers and instances.

Install Policy Studio

After installing the hardware and configuring the appliance, you are now ready to start configuring XML policies. Policy Studio is used for configuring the policies that are enforced on the appliance. Because of this, the machine on which the Policy Studio is installed must have connectivity to the appliance.

You can download the Policy Studio installation files for Windows, Linux, and Solaris from Oracle Sphere at support.axway.com. For details on installing on these supported platforms, see the API Gateway Installation Guide.

Access web-based API Gateway Manager tools

After booting up the appliance, you can access the web-based API Gateway Manager tools at the following URL:

https://HOST:8090/

HOST refers to the host name or IP address of the appliance.

For more information on API Gateway Manager, see the API Gateway Administrator Guide.

Configure API Manager

The appliance ships with the API Manager software, however, you must perform some initial configuration to set up and run API Manager on the appliance. See Configure API Manager on the appliance.
