Scheduler position (scheduler)
The program description deals with the following:
The MICROS Retail OSCAR POS applications not only allows
for automation of certain procedures in the form of reports but also allows you
to start repetitive functions/programs automatically at a defined time. For
example, the weekday, a certain day in the month and the time can be defined in
the scheduler/calendar. The scheduler is used in particular for time-controlled
daily closing operations.
The following prerequisites apply for programming of the
scheduler:
- Program a process unit under System
-> Configuration for the scheduler. Enter the name assigned in Scheduler
position under Scheduler name (= Scheduler) in
field Program name. It must be ensured that the letter sequence is
identical.
Note:
As soon as the scheduler processing unit has been programmed a scheduler
window is opened automatically after start of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
application. This does not however imply that a scheduler will be started
(see Mode).
- The scheduler position, i.e. the function
to be included, must also be programmed under System -> User
interface as Application
(Application). The entry under Name must
be identical to the one stored in scheduler position under Program name.
- If report chains are included, please
ensure that they are programmed via Chaining report in such a way that
no system queries occur (e.g. "From operator", "To
operator") (window Chaining report: Disable switch Interactiv).
The name of the report chain should be entered as Program name in
the scheduler position.
- Use of the scheduler assumes that a
screen has been installed.
The parameters required are described under Programming of a scheduler. The programs involved with the scheduler are shown under Graphics: Programming of a
scheduler.
The following description deals with all options available
for update of this basic data.
As with nearly all programs the following also applies
here:
- The entry mask in your MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application may differ for
this program. Some data fields may be missing.
- There may be defaults or firmly defined
selection options for some data fields. These cannot be updated in the
current program.
- Fields with enforced entry defined are to
be found in the entry masks as are fields where entry is optional.
- If the data record is updated over
several pages of entry masks, the dialog window, is reached by
clicking onto the appropriate button with <Mouse key 1>.
- The same procedure also applies to call
up of another update program from this program.
- In some cases, you may find so-called
"Switches" which are activated or deactivated by the user with
<Mouse key 1> depending on the setting. Activated switches have a
dark top, deactivated switches are lighter.
Entry range permitted: alphanumeric max. 20 pos.
Enter the name valid for a program of type Scheduler. This
program must have been created under a dedicated no.under System -> User
interface -> Application. If the no. is not known the arrow next to the
right-hand button lists all programms of type scheduler to be found in the
system.
Entry range permitted: numeric 1 - 9999
Several functions can be linked up to a scheduler. Each
procedure must be stored under a consecutive and easy to identify number.
Field with selection options
Select the function required via this field and link it to
the scheduler. A window showing all functions programmed for the system opens
after a click onto the arrow.
Field with firmly defined selection options
The weekday or a day defined by the system is entered via
this field. The MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application always refers to the system
date for all date and time entries. The system date can be checked or set on
the operating system level or via System -> Configuration
-> System unit, parameter Set date.
- No day
The scheduler will not start up. Any and all entries under Time and day
of the month remain invalid. This option is
useful for programming the scheduler which is to be activated later.
- Monday, Tuesday, ... Sunday
The function is started on defined days in the week only.
- Everyday
The scheduler is started every day independent of the day of the week
and/or the date. Any entry under day of the month is ignored.
- Day in
the month
The task is started on the day entered under day of the month.
- Sunday of the 4th week in the
month
The task is started on the 4th Sunday in the month.
- Every day except Sunday
The scheduler will not start up on Sunday.
- Last day of month
The scheduler starts up on the last day of the month. The information
comes from the system date.
- In periods
This option allows entry of an interval (HH:MM:SS) in field Time to define
how often the task is to be started.
Example:
A task is to be started every 3rd hour or every 15 minutes and
30 seconds.
Time 03:15:00
The task will start at 3:15, 6:15, 9:15, etc.
Time 00:15:30
The task will start every quarter of an hour at 00:15:30, 00:30:00,
00:45:30, 01:00:00, etc.
- From start of MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
This option defines that the task is to be started with every re-start of
MICROS Retail OSCAR POS.
Entry range permitted: HHMMSS (hour, minute, seconds)
Set the time the task is to be started. Enforced entry
applies here.
Note:
- If printing in spooler is set in the
system it must be ensured that the printer is switched on when printing is
to start.
Entry range permitted: numeric 1 - 31
If the option day of the month has been selected under
Mode, the entry here defines the day of the month on which the function
is to be started.
Entry range permitted: alphanumeric, max. 256 pos.
Entry range permitted: alphanumeric, max. 256 pos.
