Remarks on program function
The data for connection of a Card reader terminal from type Xafax Reader can be updated, i.e. programmed, changed or cleared, with this program. Data which has already been stored can also be displayed.
The interface and linkage to a process unit should be defined and the device-specific operating mode of the Card reader terminal should be set.
Further parametering is required to operate this device:
- Card reading parameters in program Branch.
- A Payment type of the category "Cash Card".
- A Finance type of the type "Payed in" with the appropriate Finance parameter for the assignment to the terminal type.

Remarks on data fields
The following details all options available for update of the basic data.
The following applies to this program:
- The entry mask may differ in your MICROS Retail OSCAR POS program depending on the set-up of the user program. Some data fields may be missing.
- Some data fields may have defaults or defined selection options so that they cannot be updated in this program.
- The entry mask may contain fields with enforced entries, and in other fields entries may be optional.
- If the data record is updated over several pages of entry masks the dialog window is reached by clicking on the appropriate button with <Mouse key 1>.
- The procedure is the same if you want to call up another update program from this program.
- In some cases you may find the so-called. "Switches" which are either activated or deactivated - depending on the setting - by clicking with <Mouse key 1>. Activated switches have a dark top, deactivated switches are lighter.
Debug
The system offers the following debug levels:
- 0 = no protocol of database communication in file "errlog"
- 1 =
- 2 =
- 3 = display of all communications data in file "errlog"
NOTE:
Only select a value higher than "0" for the
debug level if a protocol is required for the communication of the card reader
terminal for error analysis. The protocol appears in file "errlog" in
directory work of the appropriate system unit.
Usage
Default = 2
Enter the number of the terminal in this field.
Poll Timeout
Default = 500 (milliseconds)
The value in this field defines the poll interval in milliseconds.
Ack-Timeout
Default = 200 (milliseconds)
The value in this field defines the time in milliseconds, the application waits for an answer.
Request Timeout
Default = 5000 (milliseconds)
The value in this field defines the duration time in milliseconds, a card update can last without confirmation.
Max. transaction duration
Default = 300 (milliseconds)
The value in this field defines the duration time in milliseconds, a card update can last.
Max. Retries
Default = 3
The number of read retries is entered in this field.
Event name
Entry range permitted: alphanumeric max. 20 pos.
The name "CARDREADER" is entered in this field to ensure that the appropriate function is completed by the terminal program. This name should only changed in exceptional cases.
Track
Default = 9
Enter the number of the track which the terminal is to read from the card with the event "CARDREADER".
