The page layouts that are included out of the box with Oracle Commerce Cloud Service must be cloned and modified to create a set of layouts that are appropriate for account-based storefronts. In particular, you must consider the following for each layout type:
Should the layout be viewable by both guest users and logged-in shoppers? For example, as the entry point to the storefront, the Home Layout should be viewable by both guests and logged-in shoppers. On the other hand, the Cart Layout should only be viewable by logged-in shoppers because, in account-based storefronts, shoppers must log in before they can add items to their cart.
Does the layout contain content that is inappropriate for guest users? For example, the out-of-the-box Home Layout displays a collection navigation widget that allows the shopper to begin navigating the storefront’s catalog. In an account-based storefront, it is not possible to show an appropriate collection navigation widget until the shopper has logged in and his catalog is known. Therefore, the collection navigation widget content is inappropriate for a guest user.
This section discusses each layout type and provides guidance on how to modify them for account-based storefronts based on the answers to these two questions.
