A Home Layout should be viewable by both guests and logged-in shoppers. As such, you should create two versions of the Home Layout, one for guests and one for logged-in shoppers, and modify their content appropriately. The guest version of Home Layout should be the default layout while the logged-in version should only be shown after a shopper has logged in.
The out-of-the-box Home Layout includes a Header Widget instance that allows a shopper to self-register if they do not already have a log-in. In account-based storefronts, shoppers are not allowed to self-register so this functionality should not be shown. Also, the out-of-the-box Header Widget instance includes a link to the shopper’s cart and a search field. In account-based storefronts, shoppers must be logged in to see their cart and search the catalog that has been designated for their account. Therefore, both of these features should be removed from the guest version of the page. Finally, after a shopper has logged in, the company name and logo should appear in the header.
To create a Home Layout for guests:
On the Design tab, clone the Home Layout, give it a descriptive name like
Home, Acct-based, Guest
, enable the Make Default Layout option, and save the clone.Go to Grid View for the
Home, Acct-based, Guest
layout, add a new instance of the Header widget type and give it a descriptive name likeHeader Widget, Acct-based, Guest
. Modify the new widget instance as follows:Remove the Login/Registration element and replace it with the Contact Login (for Managed Accounts) element.
Delete the Cart Link element and the row that contains it.
Delete the Search element.
Delete the original Header Widget.
Delete the Collection Navigation Widget. In the row that contained the Collection Navigation Widget, you can choose to add marketing content for guest users who are not logged in yet. For example, you could place a Hero widget in the row to add a hero image or a Web Content widget to add some rich text content.
To create a Home Layout for logged-in shoppers:
On the Design tab, clone the Home Layout, give it a descriptive name like
Home, Acct-based, LoggedIn
, enable the ‘Display layout to account shoppers only’ option, and save the clone.Go to Grid View for the
Home, Acct-based, LoggedIn

Make sure you are using the latest version of the Collection Navigation widget so that account-specific catalogs are properly displayed. For instructions on how to check which version you are using, see Add, remove, and rearrange widgets and elements in a layout. If you are not using the latest version, you must upgrade to it. See Upgrade deployed widgets for instructions on how to do so.
