Table 7.1 describes the steps for extending the Oracle PCA at your site by installing memory kits to upgrade the compute nodes.

Identify the servers to upgrade and the memory kit to install:

  • Replace DIMMs in a Sun Server X3-2 or Sun Server X4-2.

  • Add DIMMs to an Oracle Server X5-2 or Oracle Server X6-2.

Install the memory upgrade kit.

This involves migrating running virtual machines to avoid service interruptions, and powering down the compute node.

Caution

This section applies only to systems running software release 2.0.5 or earlier.

This refers to software configuration on the upgraded compute node. In addition, a configuration change on the active management node is required to ensure that compute nodes are provisioned and reprovisioned correctly with the new RAM configuration.
