Setting Up Country Tax Reporting Preferences
The Country Tax Reports Preferences defines the filters on the Country Tax Report page. Before you can generate a country tax report, you must first confirm the reporting preferences for each unique subsidiary and nexus combination. This page can only be accessed when you have a Country Tax Report SuiteApp or a Localization SuiteApp installed. For more information, see Tax Reporting Framework Localization Requirements.
Only administrators and accounts with full permission to Country Tax Reports Preferences can confirm or modify reporting preferences. To acquire full access to the Country Tax Reports Preferences page, contact your account administrator. For information about Tax Reporting Framework permissions, see Roles and Permissions in Tax Reporting Framework.
To set country tax reporting preferences:
-
In NetSuite, go to Setup > Tax Reporting > Country Tax Report Preferences.
-
On the Country Tax Reports Preferences page, do the following:
-
On the Subsidiary list, select a subsidiary.
-
On the Nexus list, select a nexus.
-
-
The Period Filters subtab shows the default report setting for the selected subsidiary and nexus. Review and change the settings on the following preferences as needed:
-
Start of Tax Year – This is the first month of your tax year. This field determines when your tax reporting period begins and ends.
-

Use Tax Point Date – This feature is enabled by default. When the Use Tax Point Date box is checked, the period filter is using the tax point dates of the transactions (invoice date or fulfillment date) as reference points. Clear this box if you want to use accounting periods (Start Period and End Period) on your period filter instead of tax point dates (Start Date and End Date). For information about managing accounting periods, see Accounting Period Management. To learn more about tax point dates, see Tax Point Dates.
Note:The Use Tax Point Date box is not available for tax audit files and in accounts without SuiteTax.

The Tax Audit Files Data Filters subtab shows the default tax audit file setting for the selected subsidiary and nexus. These settings are automatically validated through the Period End Journal setting in your subsidiary. For more information, see Defining Subsidiary Settings for the Period End Journal Entries Feature . Review and change the settings on the following preferences as needed:
-
Balance Sheet Closing Entries – Checking this box includes the closing entries of your balance sheet in your tax audit file.
-
Balance Sheet Opening Entries – Checking this box includes the opening entries of your balance sheet in your tax audit file.
-
Income Statement Closing Entries – Checking this box includes the closing entries of your income statement in your tax audit file.
The availability of these options are dependent on your subsidiary settings. See Period End Journals Support in Tax Reporting Framework for more information.
Note:If the selected subsidiary or nexus does not have a tax audit file report, the Tax Audit Files Data Filters tab is empty. See Tax Audit Files in Tax Reporting Framework for more information.
