Workstation Monitoring in NetSuite ERP

Use the workstation monitoring tab to view statistics about registers in your NetSuite Point of Sale (NSPOS) network. Use the tab to monitor the last terminal connection date, the terminal application version, component versions, the size of each register’s database, and more.

See these tables for the types of monitoring provided based on the NSPOS release installed on the workstation.

You can also use saved-search options in NetSuite ERP to customize reports for different aspects of your workstation and cloud networks. See Custom Reports using Saved Searches > Example: Workstation Monitoring search for Offline Registers.

Tip:

Many workstation issues are caused by connection problems. Use the monitoring tool steps listed in this topic or create/use a saved search to determine a register’s Synchronization – Last Connection Date. The last connection date is the last time the register exchanged information with the cloud.

Workstation Monitoring

Monitoring Periods

Statistics for each workstation are refreshed one time per hour in NetSuite ERP. If a refresh fails because a register is offline or has a connectivity issue, the monitoring uses a recovery mechanism to trying resending the data later.

NetSuite ERP rejects updates if no changes have occurred. If a register has gone offline, the replication cloud will continue trying to send updates to NetSuite ERP. However, only the last successful update will appear in the monitoring tab. The system notes available for the monitoring tab will not reflect the rejected transmissions from the replication cloud.

To view monitoring for a workstation:

  1. Log in to NetSuite as an administrator.

  2. Go to Customization > Lists, Records, & Fields > Record Types.

  3. Locate the RA-Workstation row and click List.

  4. Click View for the desired workstation.

  5. In the Monitoring section, review the time stamp for the Last Update from Replication Cloud to ensure that data synchronization from and to the register is occurring on a timely basis.

Also see the Replication Status to verify whether replication activity is active now.

    • Online – Register is online and undergoing periodic synchronization

    • Offline – Register is not connected to the server and is running in offline mode. Synchronization is paused until the registrar is brought online.

    • Terminated – Replication processes have been canceled because the register has been offline for more than 30 days

    Note:

Registers running NSPOS 2019.1.X and earlier use include an Offline box with the Last Connected to Server field. This box is checked or cleared automatically, depending on the register's connection status.

  6. Next, go to the Workstation Monitoring subtab and review the statistics.

  7. Click Back when your review is complete.
