DIMM Population Rules
This section provides DIMM population rules for adding DIMMs to the servers.

Oracle Exadata Storage Server X8-2 EF and HC
|
-
The server supports a fixed base configuration of twelve
16 GB DDR4 DIMMs (192 GB), or a configuration that supports
six 128 GB DCPMM DIMMs per processor for a maximum of 12
DCPMM DIMMs alongside 16 GB DDR4 DIMMs in the same memory
channel. Do not attempt to any install any other DIMM sizes
or DIMM types in the server
-
If your memory configuration supports only 16 GB DDR4
DIMMs, populate only the black DIMM slot (channel slot 0)
within each memory channel for processors P0 and P1
-
If your memory configuration supports DCPMM DIMMs and DDR4
DIMMs, populate each processor socket with six 128 GB DCPMM
DIMMs and six 16 GB DDR4 DIMMs. Populate the 16 GB DDR4
DIMMs in each black (channel slot 0) DIMM slot (0, 2, 4, 7,
9, 11) and populate the 128 GB DCPMM DIMMs in each white
(channel slot 1) DIMM slot (1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10)

Oracle Exadata Storage Server X8-2 XT
|
-
The server supports a fixed base configuration of six 16
GB quad-rank (LR) DDR4 DIMMs. Do not attempt to install any
other DIMM sizes in the server
-
Populate only the black DIMM slot (channel slot 0) within
each memory channel for processor P0
