Software Release 1.2.1 Documentation Incorrectly Implies Ability to Set RAID Volume as Global Hot Spare

Technical documentation supporting the Sun Server X3-2L Software Release 1.2.1 provides instructions for designating a created RAID volume as a global hot spare in Oracle System Assistant. This functionality does not become available until Software Release 1.3.

Corrections to the Sun Server X3-2L Installation Guide for Linux Operating Systems

The Sun Server X3-2L Installation Guide for Linux Operating Systems that is included on the Oracle System Assistant USB flash drive, which is embedded in the server, has been revised to correct information about the Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel for Linux. For the latest information, see the revised Sun Server X3-2L Installation Guide for Linux Operating Systems at this location: http://www.oracle.com/pls/topic/lookup?ctx=SunServerX3-2L.

The following sections in the document have been revised:

Sun Server X3-2L Installation Guide Updated to Include Configuration Instructions for Oracle Linux Operating System Preinstalled on Server

The Sun Server X3-2L Installation Guide that is included on the Oracle System Assistant USB flash drive, which is embedded in the server, has been revised to include configuration instructions for the preinstalled Oracle Linux operating system. Operating Altitude Limits for China Markets

In the previous versions of the Sun Server X3-2L Site Planning Guide, for the Sun Server X3-2L environmental specifications, the following information about the server's operating altitude that is pertinent to installations in China was omitted:

Operating altitude: Up to 9,840 feet (3,000 meters) maximum ambient temperature is derated by 1° C per 300 meters above 900 meters.


Note - In China markets, regulations may limit installations to a maximum altitude of 6,562 feet (2,000 meters).


Caution Statement Added to the Sun Server X3-2L Installation Guide for Oracle VM

The Sun Server X3-2L Installation Guide for Oracle VM that is included on the Oracle System Assistant USB flash drive, which is embedded in the server, has been revised to include the following caution statement. The caution statement was added to step 6 of the section “Install Oracle VM Server Using Local or Remote Media.”


Caution

Caution - In the Partitioning Type screen shown above, the Oracle SSM drive is the Oracle System Assistant USB flash drive. You might have to scroll to the bottom of the screen to see this drive. You should never select the Oracle SSM drive as the OS installation drive. Installing Oracle VM to the Oracle SSM drive will overwrite the Oracle System Assistant software and the Oracle System Assistant will have to be restored. For instructions for restoring Oracle System Assistant, see the section “Restore Oracle System Assistant” in the Sun Server X3-2L Administration Guide.


Caution Statements Added to the Sun Server X3-2L Service Manual

The Sun Server X3-2L Service Manual that is included on the Oracle System Assistant USB flash drive, which is embedded in the server, has been revised to include the following caution statements.

Correction to the Version of the Oracle VM Server Software Preinstalled on the Server

The Sun Server X3-2L Installation Guide that is included on the Oracle System Assistant USB flash drive, which is embedded in the server, lists the version of the preinstalled Oracle VM Server software as 3.0, which is incorrect. The correct version is Oracle VM 3.x.
