How to Interpret DIMM Error Messages in the SEL

1. Log into ILOM and access the System Event Log using the web interface or CLI.

   See Viewing the ILOM System Event Log.

2. Identify the location of the DIMM error.

   See the following example:

   Event# | Date | Time | Memory | Uncorrectable Error |Asserted | OEM Data-2 0x12 OEM Data-3 0x9d

   The Data Byte 2 field contains the following information:

   • Bits 6-7 = 00b Indicates data is for ECC Memory Error

   • Bits 4-5 = Branch Memory Branch ID

   • Bits 0-3 = CPU # Node Number (CPU Package Number)

   The Data Byte 3 field contains the following information:

   • Bits 4-7 = DIMM 0 of pair

   • Bits 0-3 = DIMM 1 of pair

   In above example:

   • Data-2: 0x12 = 0001,0010 binary = Branch 1 , CPU 2

   • Data-3: 0x9d = DIMM9, DIMM13
