In the event of a failure, the OneCommand Manager application command-line interface (CLI) produces a usable firmware (FW) dump that you can send to Emulex (now Broadcom) for troubleshooting. The default location of the firmware dump varies by operating system:
Windows – /Util/Dump subdirectory of the OneCommand Manager installation directory
Oracle Solaris – /opt/ELXocm/Dump
Linux – /var/log/emulex/ocmanager/Dump
This section lists the requirements for producing automatic firmware dumps, and provides general information about the OneCommand Manager CLI firmware dumps.
Requirements:
OneCommand Manager application command-line interface, version 11.1.218.x, or newer
elxhbamgrd process must be running in the background (The ECD installer or system boot starts the process, by default.)
General Information
Manual firmware dumps do not collect fatal firmware errors.
HBA firmware (FW) detects fatal errors.
HBA firmware notifies the driver of any errors.
The driver notifies the OneCommand Manager command-line interface (via the OneCommand Manager elxhbamgrd daemon process) to start the firmware dump process.
The firmware dump is produced and stored in the default dump directory, per your operating system.
