Install Compact Flash Card

An IDE CF card can be installed on the blade server for user flash. Due to the location of the CF slot, the blade server must be outside of the chassis for you to install a CF card. The CF is not hot-swappable. The maximum capacity is 32GB.

  1. Take antistatic precautions.

    See Safety Requirements.

  2. Access the blade server by performing one of the following procedures:

    Caution

Caution - Do not place blade server on top of an antistatic envelope unless the outside of the envelope also has antistatic properties. For detailed handling instructions and safety precautions, see Unpack the Blade Server.

  3. Locate the CF connector.

The connector is located on the blade server, behind the sheet metal door protecting the AMC slot.

Figure showing compact flash connector and location.
  4. To install the CF card, use the arrow on the card as a guide to insert the card into the CF connector.

Note - CF cards have a life time of 2,000,000 write/erase cycles. Users are responsible for ensuring that the OS and applications do not exceed this maximum.
