fmadm displays a telemetry fault when installing Oracle Solaris 11.2 SRU 6.1 on X3-2L with a Flash Accelerator F40 card (20186286)

When Oracle Solaris 11.2 SRU 6.1 is installed on a X3-2L running the Flash Accelerator F40 card, fmadm might show the following telemetry fault:

Fault class : fault.sunos.eft.unexpected_telemetry
Certainty : 16%
Affects : dev:////pci@0,0/pci8086,3c04@2/pci108e,581@0
Status : faulted but still in service

Affected hardware and software:

  • Flash Accelerator F40 card

  • Oracle Solaris 11.2 SRU 6.1

Workaround:

Disable the Intel Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d) setting in the system BIOS settings. This setting can be disabled in the BIOS Setup Utility IO > I/O Virtualization menu.
