CPU capping function fails when running Oracle Linux 6.x or 7.x and UEK4 or higher (24585006)

In UEFI BIOS mode, when running the Oracle Linux 6.x or 7.x as the host operating system with the UEK4 or higher kernel on a Sun Fire X3-2L Server, the CPU capping function might fail.

Affected software and operating systems:

  • Sun Fire X3-2L Server

  • Oracle Linux 6.x and 7.x

Workaround:Disable the Intel pstate driver by adding the following kernel parameter to the UEK /boot/efi/EFI/redhat/grub.cfg kernel line: intel_pstate=disable
