Windows Device Manager takes 2 to 4 minutes to display Intel NIC card properties in BIOS Legacy mode (20259399)

Windows Server 2008 R2 might occasionally hang for 2 to 4 minutes after clicking on Intel Network port to open its property window.

On Windows Server 2008 SP2/R2 SP1, Task Manager may hang for 2 to 4 minutes while attempting to switch to the 'Networking' tab.

On Windows Server 2012/R2, Resource Monitor may hang for 2 to 4 minutes while attempting to shift to the 'Networking' tab.

Affected hardware and software:

  • Releases 1.0 and later

  • Intel NIC cards such as the Sun Dual Port 10GbE SFP+ PCIe 2.0 Low Profile Adapter (including Onboard NIC), Sun Quad Port GbE PCIe 2.0 Low Profile Adapter, and Sun Dual Port 10 GbE PCIe 2.0 Low Profile Adapter.

  • Windows Server 2008 SP2, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2

  • Hardware Management Pack (HMP) 2.3.1.0, HMP 2.3.0, HMP 2.2.8

Workaround:

Reboot the Service Processor (SP).
