You must first determine how much existing storage capacity is available before deciding how to carve that storage up for the disk groups for each cluster that you create.
The number and capacity of the drives installed in the Exadata Storage Servers vary, depending on the type of drives that are installed:
X7-2L Exadata Storage Server:
8 x 6.4 TB Extreme Flash drives
12 x 10 TB High Capacity drives
X6-2L Exadata Storage Server:
8 x 3.2 TB Extreme Flash drives
12 x 8 TB High Capacity drives
X5-2L Exadata Storage Server:
8 x 1.6 TB Extreme Flash drives
12 x 8 TB High Capacity drives
In addition, the total capacity that you have available depends on the level of redundancy that you want to set for the ASM disk groups (normal redundancy or high redundancy).
The following tables provide capacity information for the types of Exadata Storage Servers.
