The
following program description deals with the following:
Remarks on the Program Function
With
this program you can view the various alerts generated by the system.
Note:
An alert will only be generated if a
corresponding subscriber who is interested in alerts has been set up in the system.

Remarks on the Input Fields
This
paragraph will provide a short overview over the options available for updating
these basic data
Just
like in almost any other program:
- The input mask may be different
in your MICROS Retail OSCAR POS program depending on the set-up of the application. In
some cases some input
fields may be missing.
- Some input fields may contain default values or
defined selection options; these cannot be updated.
- The input mask contains some fields that require
an entry and others in which entries are optional.
- If the data record is updated via multi-page
input masks, go to the dialog window by clicking on
the appropriate buttons with <Mouse key 1>.
- The same procedure applies to call up another
update program from this program.
- In some cases you may find that so-called
"Switches" which - depending on the default - can be activated
or deactivated with <Mouse key 1>. Activated switches are identified
by their dark colour, deactivated switches are lighter-coloured.
Alarmgruppe
Field with defined selection options
Select
one of the alert groups provided of which you would like to view the alerts:
Click in the field and select the group of your choice with another mouseclick.
Note:
An alert will only be generated if a
corresponding subscriber who is interested in receiving alerts has been set up in the
system.
The system offers you a selection from the following
alert groups:
- ----------
Select this one if you would like to
view the messages generated by the system for all alert groups.
- DB Alert
Select this alert group if you would
like to view messages of the "DB-Batch" and
"DB-Runtime" type only.
DB-Batch alert messages must be initiated manually by the operator via the
menu command System -> Alert -> Data base check .
DB-Runtime alert messages will be automatically generated by the system if
particular events occur in the data base.
- Syst. Alert
Select this alert group if you would
like to view alert messages of the "System Alert" type only.
These alert messages will be generated as a result of unusual conditions
in the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS system (e.g. network errors, programm errors, database
errors etc.).
- Device Alert
Select this alert group if you would
like to view alert messages of the "Device Alert" type only.
These alert messages will be generated by the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS standard devices,
e.g. printer, displays, EFT terminals etc. (e.g. end of paper etc.)
- Special Device Alert
Select this alert group if you would
like to view aert messages of the "Special Device Alert" type
only. These alert mwessages will be generated by the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS special
devices, e.g. infrared detectors, UPS, photoelectric barriers or
temperature sensors. These special devices require a corresponding device
driver to be able to generate the appropriate alert messages under certain
conditions.
- Operator Alert
Select this alert group if you would
like to view alert messages of the "Operator Alert" type only.
These messages will be caused by the operator by generating an alert
messages at the POS via the key entry <n:ALERT> or <fALERT;n>
or at the administration terminal via the menu command System -> Alert
Send Operator Alert.
Installation
Entry range permitted: numeric, 1 - 99999
In
this field, select the number iof the installation for which you would like to
view the alert messages.
Alarm subscriber
Entry range permitted: numeric, 1 - 99999
In
this field, select the number of a subscriber of whom you would like
to view the alert messages.
Alert
Entry range permitted: numeric, 1 - 999999
This
field displays the number under which the alert message has
been saved in the system.
Alert parameter
Entry range permitted: numeric, 1 - 999999
This
field shows the number under which the alert parameter has been saved in
the system.
Process unit
Entry range permitted: numeric, 1 - 99999
This
field shows the process unit in which the alert message has been generated.
Installation type no.
Entry range permitted: numeric, 1 - 99999
This
field shows the number of the installation type assigned to
this alert.
Alert type
Field with defined selection options
Select
one of the alert types provided of which you would like to view the alerts:
Click in the field and select the type of your choice with another mouseclick.
The
system offers you a selection from the following alert types:
- All
Displays the messages for all alert
types.
- Devices
Displays only alert messages that have
been generated by a standard device e.g. printers, displays etc.).
- Special Devices
Displays only alert messages that have
been generated by a special device (e.g. infrared detectors, UPS,
photoelectric barriers, temperature sensors etc.).
- POS
Displays only alert messages that have
been caused by a POS user (key board event = <n:ALERT> or
<fALERT;n> (n = number of the alert
code in the backup program user defined alert).
- Backoffice
Displays only alert messages that have
been caused by an operator at the administration terminal. User-defined
messages must be generated via the menu command System -> Alert -> Send user alert.
- System
Displays only alert messages that have
been generated by the system (e.g. network errors, program errors,
database errors etc.).
- DB Batch
Displays only alert messages that have
been generated by a database event.
DB Batch alert messages must be initiated manually by a user via the menu
comand System -> Alert -> Database Check.
- DB Runtime
Displays only
alert messages that have been generated by a database event.
DB Runtime alert messages will be automatically generated by
the system when certain events occur in the database
.
- Date / Time
Displays only alert messages that have
been generated at a certain point of time by use of a Schedulers.
Alarm Code
Entry range permitted: numeric, 1 - 9999
Name
Entry range permitted:
alphanumeric, max. 80 chars.
Occurrence Date:
Entry range permitted: DDMMYYYY (Day, Month, Year)
This
field shows the date on which the alert message has been generated.
Announcement Date:
Entry range permitted: DDMMYYYY (Day, Month, Year)
This
field shows the date on which the alert message has been sent to the recipient.
Manage Date:
Entry range permitted: DDMMYYYY (Day, Month, Year)
Occurrence Time:
Entry range permitted: HHMMSS (Hour, Minute, Second)
This
field shows the time at which the alert message has been generated.
Announcement Time:
Entry range permitted: HHMMSS (Hour, Minute, Second)
This
field shows the time at which the alert message has been sent to the recipient.
Manage Time:
Entry range permitted: HHMMSS (Hour, Minute, Second)
Noticed
Switch activated:
The recipient of this alert message has been informed.
Switch deactivated: The recipient
of this alert message has not
been informed.
