Alert
Parameter
The
following program description deals with the following:
Remarks on the Program Function
With this
program, you can update the data for alert parameters, i.e. create new data
records, alter or delete existing records. You can also view the stored data
for information purposes.
With the
alert parameter, you determine the corresponding parameters for any alert type.
In addition, you'll have to define Alert conditions
for every alert parameter.

Remarks on the Input Fields
This
paragraph will provide a short overview over the options available for updating
these basic data
Just like
in almost any other program:
- The input mask
may be different in your MICROS Retail OSCAR POS program depending on the set-up of the
application. In some cases some input
fields may be missing.
- Some input fields may contain default values or
defined selection options; these cannot be updated.
- The input mask contains some fields that require
an entry and others in which entries are optional.
- If the data record is updated via multi-page
input masks, go to the dialog window by
clicking on the appropriate buttons with <Mouse key 1>.
- The same procedure applies to call up another
update program from this program.
- In some cases you may find that so-called
"Switches" which - depending on the default - can be activated
or deactivated with <Mouse key 1>. Activated switches are identified
by their dark colour, deactivated switches are lighter-coloured.
Installation type no.
Entry range permitted: numeric, 1 - 99999
Enter the
number of the installation type you would like
to assign to this alert parameter. Installation types are required for
assignment of alert parameters.
Note!
In the Installation
update program, you have to assign an installation
type in the Installation Type No. field to make sure the alert subscriber can evaluate the alert parameters.
Alert parameter
Entry range permitted: numeric, 1 - 99999
When
creating a new data record, enter a free number here which is not in use, yet.
For changes and deletions enter the number of the corresponding alert parameter.
Name
Entry range permitted: alphanumeric, max. 20 chars.
Enter the
name under which you would like to save the alert parameter in the system. You
can choose a name at will, but it should be eloquent.
Alert type
Field with defined selection options
In this
field you can define the type of alert of which you would like to update the
parameters.
Select one of the alert types provided: Click in the field and select the type
of your choice with another mouseclick.
Note!
You have to define alert
conditions for every alert parameter. Depending on the alert type selected,
you may assign alert conditions of the same category only (e.i. if you selected
the alert type DB Batch or DB Runtime you may not assign "Devices" or
"System" alert conditions). Inadmissable assignments will cause an
error message.
The system offers you a selection from the following alert
types:
- Devices
Defines the parameters for alert messages by standard
devices (e.g. paper has run out in a printer etc.).
- Special Devices
(currently not implemented)
Defines the parameters for alert messages by special devices. These
devices (e.g. infrared detectors, UPS, photoelectric barriers, temperatur
sensors etc.) require corresponding device drivers to be able to generate
appropriate alert messages under certain conditions.
- POS
Defines the parameters for user-defined messages at the
POS. These messages will be caused by the POS user via the keyboard event
<n:ALERT> key or <fALERT;n> (n = number of alert code).
- Backoffice
Defines the parameters for user-defined alert messages
that have been caused by an operator at the administration terminal. These
messages will be generated via activation of the button "Send Alert" in the backup program
System -> Alert -> Send user alert.
- System
Defines the parameters for alert messages that have been
generated by the system (e.g. network errors, program errors, database
errors etc.).
- DB Batch
Defines the parameters for query of certain database
contents. The call-up of the query of database contents happens via a
report chain or manually via the menu command System -> Alert
->Database check.
In contrast to the alert type "DB
Runtime", you can handle all messages that refer to
database contents with this alert type.
The pre-condition for the generation of messages for this alert type is
that the corresponding values for the database table of choice have been
set in the alert conditions.
These alert messages can be generated via the menu command System ->
Alert ->Database check.
- DB Runtime
Defines the parameters for alert messages to report
certain database events that have occurred because of a transaction during
the operation of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application, e.g. when exceeding a certain
inventory max. for one article or when exceeding a max. credit for a
certain customer.
The pre-condition for the generation of messages for this alert type is
that the corresponding values for the database table of choice have been
set in the alert conditions.
- Date / Time
Defines the parameters for scheduled alert messages. For
this alert type, the "Scheduler Alarm"
(= LstUserCodeAlert) report must be embedded in a report chain in order to
start it via an established scheduler task at a certain point of time.
(System -> Surface -> Application -> Schedulers
and Parameters -> Misc. -> Parameters ->Report Chain ; Parameters -> Other
Parameters ->Scheduler Position).
Alert text
Entry range permitted: alphanumeric, max. 40 chars.
Enter the
text of the alert message to be generated.
Active
Switch activated: This alert parameter is
active.
Switch deactivated: This alert
parameter is deactivated.
