Reviewing Exception Results

When a control point generates exceptions, the results are sent to the Exception Results page. There are two tabs, one for My Exceptions and one for Shared Exceptions. Depending on your privileges, you can manage exception results assigned to you and other users.

From the Exceptions menu, choose Exception Results. This displays the My Exceptions page. The exception results that have been assigned to you are displayed on this page. If you have the required privilege, you can also access the exception results of other users on this page, using the Assigned User selector. Exception results are listed on the Shared Exceptions page if they were assigned to Shared Exceptions, rather than an individual user. You can filter the lists of exception results and perform several other actions. The actions available on the Shared Exceptions page depend upon your user role.

Filtering Exception Results

You can filter the list on either page using these controls:

Assigned User - Select a user from the drop-down list to display the exception results assigned to that user. This is only available on the My Exceptions page, and access to other users depends on your user role.

Sets to Display - Select Active or Closed from the list to display only active or only closed exception results. Closed results are those that have been closed, using the Activate/Close Set action. All exception results that have not been closed, deleted, or committed to history are Active.

Control Target - Select a control target from the list to display the exception results for that control target.

Add View Filter Condition - Click the icon to display a View Filter panel that lets you create a custom filter.

To add a view condition filter:

    1. From the Filter On drop down list, choose an option, for example, # of Exceptions.

    2. In the condition editor for that option, specify a condition.  For example, for # of Exceptions, select Greater than from the operator list and enter 30 in the value field. This screens for just those exception results that created at least 30 exceptions.

The arrows on the individual column headers can be also used to sort the exception results lists in ascending or descending order.

Actions on Exception Results

You can perform several actions on exception results assigned to you. Depending on your privileges, you can also perform these actions on exception results assigned to other users and on those assigned to Shared Exceptions.

- Changes Active result sets to Closed or vice versa. You can select one or more exception results on the list using  Shift + click or Ctrl +click and change all the selected exception results at one time. The Sets to Display field indicates whether the list displays Active or Closed exception results. Note: Closed exception results are removed from the Active list until you change them back to active. This is the only impact.

- Commits the exception results to history. After you execute this action, you will not be able to run the exception results report and work with them in the Exception Detail Dashboard, but you will be able to view the results in exception history. You can select one or more exception results on the list using  Shift + click or Ctrl +click and commit all of them to history at one time.

- Deletes the exception results. Important - When exception results are deleted, the exceptions will no longer be considered for exception history and any exception notes that were created from the result set will also be deleted. You should only delete a result set if it was created in error because this action cannot be undone.

Export - Click to display an Export options page that lets you select options, such as file format, for exporting the exception results summary. When you are finished selecting options, click Export to export to save or display the exception results in the selected format.

PDF - Click to display a PDF options page that lets you select options for displaying the exception results in PDF format. When you are finished selecting options, click Export to display the exception results in PDF. A Table of Contents lets you navigate to each separate exception result.

- Click this icon in the # of Exception Results column to view the exception results.  These are displayed in the Exception Detail Dashboard. See Managing Results in the Exception Detail Dashboard for more information.
