Chapter 7 Extending Oracle Private Cloud Appliance - Expansion Rack

When the capacity of an Oracle Private Cloud Appliance (PCA) base rack is no longer sufficient, you can increase the size of your environment with a number of compute nodes in one or two expansion racks. The process of extending the Oracle PCA in this way requires that you install each additional rack in a location near the appliance base rack, connect cables between the racks, and make configuration changes. This operation does not require that the system is powered down, but physical changes are made to the system. Therefore you should review the task map provided in Section 7.1, “Adding Expansion Racks Task Map” before continuing. Each step to perform the operation is described in detail in this section.

Caution

The integration of expansion racks requires critical manual configuration changes. Therefore Oracle considers expansion rack installation a consulting project. Availability of expansion racks is restricted. Customers should not attempt to add an expansion rack to their Oracle PCA environment without proper guidance from Oracle. Please contact your Oracle representative for more information.

This chapter explains how to extend your Oracle PCA by adding expansion racks to the system.
