Using Subject Line Predictions

Important: This feature is available as part of the Advanced Intelligence Package add-on that must be ordered for your account. Please contact your account manager or Oracle sales.

With Subject Line Predictions, type your subject line into the email message designer, click Predict, and wait as Oracle Responsys labels the subject line as Good or Poor in relation to the unique open rates of your historic subject lines. These labels let you know whether the subject line might lead to higher or lower than average open rate, based on the average open rate of your past subject lines. You can use the Poor label to help you adjust your subject line until the Good label displays.

Note: Subject Line Predictions is supported for email and for accounts that contain English, Swedish, German, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, and Hebrew subject lines.

In addition to displaying Good or Poor label, we also present the user with following information:

  • The predicted open rate.

Note: This functionality is supported for English, Swedish, German, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, and Hebrew subject lines.

  • This is the lift in the predicted open rate in comparison to average.

Note: This functionality is supported for English, Swedish, German, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, and Hebrew subject lines.

  • Key phrases that are likely to drive better open rate are highlighted in green.

Note: This functionality is supported for English, Swedish, Portuguese, German, French, Spanish, and Italian subject lines.

  • Key phrases that are likely to lower the open rate are highlighted in red.

Note: This functionality is supported for English, Swedish, Portuguese, German, French, Spanish, and Italian subject lines.

  • Similar subject lines are displayed along with their average open rate and contain some key phrases used in the new subject line. Responsys also provides some tips (word count, character count, punctuation, and so on). This information can help you in optimizing your subject line and give insight into how such subject lines have performed in the past.

Note: This functionality only displays for English subject lines and Latin-based languages' subject lines.

Subject Line Predictions is also supported for the rules editor, dynamic subject lines, the Multilingual Contribution widget, the Content Contribute widget, and MVT variant subject lines. See the Subject Line Predictions FAQs.

When there is no word or phrase analysis available, we present insights based on past subject lines.

The top phrases and words insights are shown when we don't have insights into key phrases that have an impact on the subject line (that is, when key phrase highlighting is not available).
