Configuring FSM Service Locations and Geocoding

Use these settings in Field Service Management (FSM) to configure automatic address lookup and address controls on the asset form. Map display and technician tracking have separate settings. For information about saved service locations and lookup behavior, see FSM Service Locations and Geocoding.

Properties and Defaults

The following table lists the configuration properties, accepted values, defaults, and effects.

Property or Setting

Location

Accepted Value

Default

Effect

geocodeaddress

geo

Boolean

true

Enables automatic address-to-coordinate lookup where the applicable record path and service dependencies allow it.

autocomplete

address

Boolean

true

Enables Address Search suggestions on the asset form when the service is available.

hidden

views/asset/addresssearch

Boolean

false

Turns off the Address Search component when set to true, independently of geocoding.

views/asset/address; record models

Supported definitions

Customer address book and standard mappings for assets and tasks.

Default JSON

The following JSON fragment shows the standard defaults for these properties. Properties omitted from the fragment retain their inherited values.

            {
  "geo": {
    "geocodeaddress": true
  },
  "address": {
    "autocomplete": true
  },
  "views/asset/addresssearch": {
    "hidden": false,
    "name": "custpage_nx_address_autocomplete"
  }
}

Changing Automatic Address Lookup

Add the following fragments to the JSON in the Editor on the Field Service Configuration record, preserving existing properties. For information about preparing, validating, and activating a revision, see Updating and Validating FSM Configuration.

To keep address entry and stop automatic coordinate lookup, set geo.geocodeaddress to false:

            {
  "geo": {
    "geocodeaddress": false
  }
}

To remove address suggestions on the asset form, set address.autocomplete to false:

            {
  "address": {
    "autocomplete": false
  }
}

For address selection and field mappings, see FSM NetSuite View Configuration and FSM Record Model Configuration. For information about coordinate-based time zone lookup and the separate timezone.decodegeolocation property, see Configuring FSM Service Time Zone Sourcing and Synchronization.

Dependencies and Customization Limits

Address Search requires a visible asset address text field, enabled address autocomplete, and the configured Google key.

Lookup depends on usable address or coordinate inputs and available account mapping services. Setting a lookup property to true doesn't guarantee that every lookup succeeds.

Disabling geocoding doesn't clear saved coordinates or stop FSM from copying an asset's existing location to tasks. So you may need to maintain address text and coordinates separately. Copying an asset's location when a task is saved follows different rules from background updates to work with the Not Started status.

When Changes Apply

These settings affect later form interactions and submissions that meet the lookup conditions described in FSM Service Locations and Geocoding. Existing saved locations remain. Changing these settings alone doesn't recalculate all records.
