Configuring FSM Service Time Zone Sourcing and Synchronization

Configure automatic coordinate-based time-zone lookup for assets. Coordinate lookup, sourcing from related records, native time conversion, and the Schedule Board viewing time zone serve different purposes. For more information about sourcing and synchronization behavior, see FSM Service Time Zone Sourcing and Synchronization.

Properties and Defaults

The following tables list the lookup property and the time zone settings used by this capability.

Property or Setting

Location

Accepted Value

Default

Effect

decodegeolocation

timezone

Boolean

true

Enables coordinate-based asset time-zone lookup when its dependencies are available.

Property or Setting

Value Source

Effect

Time Zone

asset field custrecord_nx_asset_time_zone

Supported Field Service Time Zone record

Lookup sources the value when the asset is eligible. Disabling lookup retains existing values.

Supplies a zone to related service records.

Field Service Time Zone maps

Project field: custentity_nx_time_zone. Case, CRM task, and project task fields: custevent_nx_time_zone

Supported model mappings to time-zone records

Standard FSM mappings and sourcing.

Retains the zone needed by record-specific conversion and scheduling.

User time zone

NetSuite user preference

NetSuite time-zone choice

Current operation's preference.

Provides the final sourcing fallback where applicable and native conversion context.

Board viewing time zone

Schedule Board user setting

Available Board time-zone choice

Board/session preference.

Controls Schedule Board display and interpretation. It does not replace all record time zones.

Default JSON

The following JSON fragment shows the default value of timezone.decodegeolocation. Other properties retain inherited product defaults.

            {
  "timezone": {
    "decodegeolocation": true
  }
}

Changing Automatic Asset Time-Zone Lookup

To retain selected asset time zones, set decodegeolocation to false in the root timezone object of your custom configuration. Preserve unrelated properties. For instructions to edit, validate, and activate the configuration, see Updating and Validating FSM Configuration.

            {
  "timezone": {
    "decodegeolocation": false
  }
}

Setting decodegeolocation to false disables automatic lookup from asset coordinates. Saved time zones, sourcing from related records, and synchronization with native time fields remain unchanged. For information about field mappings, see FSM Record Model Configuration. For information about viewing time zone choices, see FSM Schedule Board Configuration. Address lookup is configured separately. For more information, see Configuring FSM Service Locations and Geocoding.

Dependencies and Customization Limits

Automatic lookup requires coordinates, access to the account's mapping service, and a match in the supported time zone catalog. A fixed UTC offset is not interchangeable with a region's named time zone and daylight-saving rules.

Keep the mapping to a time zone record and its value format. Do not substitute an arbitrary string or fixed offset. Project, Case, CRM Task and Project Task sourcing differs; their own coordinate changes do not all perform Asset-style geographic lookup.

The fallback user preference belongs to the current operation. Background or integration contexts can therefore use a different fallback from an interactive user.

When Changes Apply

The decodegeolocation property controls automatic lookup during later eligible asset coordinate changes and record saves. It does not convert every existing schedule or complete pending CRM task native-time restoration.
